Artisan Joey Bebar is a master in the art of creative stone cutting. An assortment of tools are used such as the full range of wet cutting hand tools, wet saws, wet and dry polishers, wet and dry cutters, high speed drills and sanders. These are used to create the unusual patterns and striae, engravings and etchings on the stone. This is done with “old school” methods and tools. Many different stones are selected from choice rock quarries with the occasional weekend/summer rock hounding family trips to the Colorado River (stretching from Utah to Arizona) with the personal watercraft. Depending on the stone and look achieved, some may be stained or colored or just varnished for clarity of color of the stone in its natural state. The varnish serves as a casing of protection as well. CROSS-ing the World is a takeoff of the creative art business of Artistic Expressions by J & L which encompasses other mediums. Joey’s wife, Lisa Provenza-Bebar, is a professional fine artist/muralist and Decorative Faux Finisher and has served the Coachella Valley and abroad since 1982. Together they bring a wide range of mediums which can be incorporated into the stone art pieces. They are always inventing NEW IDEAS.
